The ruling Thursday by the US District Court for the District of Connecticut addressed a novel issue involving the interplay between the Connecticut Family and Medical Leave Act and the tort of negligent misrepresentation. Because the former MetLife short-term disability claims specialist lacked a timely claim under the leave act for interference with her leave rights, she couldn’t pursue her negligent misrepresentation claim, the court said.
