Conservative TV and radio host Wayne Allyn Root sued social media companies including Meta Platforms Inc. and TikTok Inc. and Stanford University for conspiring to censor his content.

Root, a vice presidential nominee for the Libertarian Party in the 2008 election, alleged the Biden administration and Stanford researched social media influencers’ spreadof Covid-19 vaccine misinformation in 2020 and 2021, before colluding with Google LLC and X Corp., to suppress Root’s conservative views and criticism of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The lawsuit filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California comes a year after the US Supreme Court ruled against state attorneys general and social media users who alleged the Biden administration censored their speech in violation of the First Amendment.

Root’s lawsuit claimed a host of constitutional violations, including the First and Fifth Amendment, as well as state and federal civil rights laws.

Lurie & Associates represents Root.

The case is Root v. The Leland Stanford Junior University, N.D. Cal., No. 3:25-cv-09209, 10/27/25.
