Meta, Shutterstock Accused of Underpaying Engineer by $2 Million

Shutterstock Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc. were hit with a lawsuit by a former Giphy Inc. engineer who says she was paid over $2 million less in salary than male colleagues in similar roles.

Yael Elmatad alleges that earlier this year she became aware of a spreadsheet that reflected she was underpaid by millions over the life of restricted stock units award agreements as compared to multiple male employees on the engineering team, according to her lawsuit filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
