Google, Meta Landmark Social Media Addiction Trial Wraps Up (1)

A jury in Los Angeles will soon decide the outcome of a high-stakes trial over claims that social media sites like Meta’s Instagram and Google’s YouTube are dangerously addictive to youths.

Final arguments in California state court concluded Thursday, following roughly four weeks of testimony from executives, a whistleblower, medical experts and the 20-year-old woman who alleges in the case that she suffered a mental health crisis after getting hooked on Instagram and YouTube.
