Meta, Google Fail to Escape Data Leak Suit Over Android Flaw

Meta Platforms Inc. and Google LLC failed to win dismissal of a proposed class action alleging that Meta exploited a vulnerability in Google’s Android operating system to unlawfully track and collect users’ private information.

The plaintiffs adequately pleaded claims against Meta of intrusion upon seclusion, invasion of privacy, and violations of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, the wiretapping and eavesdropping provisions of the California Invasion of Privacy Act, and the California Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act, Judge Rita F. Lin of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Monday.
