Meta, Google Android Defect Revealed User Information, Suit Says

Meta Platforms and Alphabet Inc have been sued over Android vulnerabilities that allowed the Facebook operator and a Russian company to deanonymize users, according to a proposed class action.

Meta, alongside Yandex Metrica, violated one of the web’s “‘fundamental security principles’” by making a linkage between Android web browsers and locally-installed applications, the complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California said. Under the sandboxing principle, websites and mobile applications shouldn’t interact, according to the suit.
