Meta Gets Three Claims Trimmed From Tax Privacy Class Action

Meta Platforms Inc. succeeded in trimming three claims from a proposed class action alleging it illegally collected the financial information of consumers who used tax-preparation websites to file their tax returns, but it must face a variety of claims in the suit that survived dismissal in an earlier court order.

Plaintiffs in the consolidated lawsuit allege that Meta gained access to their sensitive tax data through the installation of its tracking pixel on tax-preparation websites, including those of H&R Block Inc., TaxAct Holdings Inc., and TaxSlayer LLC.
