Meta Defeats Ex-Cybersecurity Leader’s Retaliation Lawsuit (1)

Meta Platforms Inc. won’t have to face claims it fired a WhatsApp cybersecurity official soon after he told CEO Mark Zuckerberg that he’d blown the whistle to federal securities regulators.

Attaullah Baig failed to sufficiently allege he reported violations of US Securities and Exchange Commission rules regarding cybersecurity disclosures, and didn’t plead facts regarding the elements of securities fraud or wire fraud to advance a retaliation claim under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, said Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler of the US District Court for the Northern District of California on Monday.
