‘Mere Reference’ to ‘Paris’ Doesn’t Make L’Oréal Label Deceptive

L’Oréal USA Inc. is free of a proposed class suit alleging it dupes consumers into paying a premium for supposed French-made products, after a judge said “a mere reference to Paris” wouldn’t mislead consumers into believing the beauty products are manufactured there.

Veronica Eshelby alleged she bought L’Oréal Ever Pure Shampoo and several other products with packaging that prominently displays the word “Paris” on the front and contains French-language text.
