Merck & Co., Black Former Director Settle Biased Firing Claims

Merck & Co. and a Black former IT director at the company have agreed to end the worker’s discrimination claims a month after a federal jury awarded him $6 million over allegations he was fired because of his race.

Judge Vincent L. Briccetti of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed the case Monday, after Merck and Richard Davis stated in a Dec. 12 letter that they had reached a resolution, though it’s unclear if the settlement included any additional awards or conditions.
