Meow Mix Maker Accuses Spectrum Brands of Trademark Infringement

The maker of Meow Mix filed a lawsuit alleging Spectrum Brands Inc. is violating trademark law with its “Meowee!” brand, confusing consumers and weakening its cat food trademark.

Big Heart Pet Inc. alleged in a complaint filed April 25 that Spectrum Brands launched its Meowee! cat treats despite Big Heart’s objections and survey evidence showing a 22.4% likelihood of consumer confusion.
