Memorial Heart Institute Ends Data Breach Suit for $3.75 Million

Tennessee-based Memorial Heart Institute LLC will pay up to $3.75 million to settle litigation stemming from a March 2023 data breach as part of an agreement preliminarily approved by a federal court.

Of about 460,000 people whose private information was accessed by a cybercrime group, a subset of 287,000 also may have had their Social Security numbers compromised, Judge Curtis L. Collier of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee said. The settlement provides the SSN subclass $2 million that members will be able to seek a prorated cash payment from.
