Prentke Romich Company’s negligence led to the exposure of more than 50,000 consumers’ personally identifiable and sensitive health data in an August data breach, a proposed class action filed in federal court claims.
The data breach “was a direct result” of the company’s alleged failure to follow industry standard data security practices. PRC’s conduct was “particularly unreasonable given the nature and amount of Private Information it obtained and stored and the foreseeable consequences of a data breach involving the Private Information of its patients,” the complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, alleges.
