Medical Board Alleges Therapist Used Trade Secrets for Tutoring

National Board for Respiratory Care Inc. alleged a former therapist misappropriated its trade secrets through her online tutoring services, in a lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.

The complaint alleges Jana Stafford violated NBRC’s copyright and trade secret rights by improperly using materials including “preparation test questions, answers and explanatory information” without authorization or consent. NBRC is a credentialing board for respiratory care practitioners and maintains an examination it deems as a “highly confidential trade secret.”
