McMormick $3 Million ‘Natural’ Seasoning Deal Gets Final Nod

McCormick & Co. and consumers secured a New York federal court’s final nod for a $3 million settlement that ends litigation alleging it deceptively labeled certain seasoning products as “natural” despite the inclusion of synthetic ingredients.

The plaintiffs’ attorneys were awarded their requested $1 million, or one-third of the fund, for fees and reimbursement of litigation expenses, according to a Tuesday order in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York.

The settlement covers consumers who bought “Perfect Pinch Fiesta Citrus Seasoning” and other products after Jan. 1, 2013, that were labeled and advertised as “natural.”
