McCormick Consumers Urge Final Nod for $3 Million False-Ad Deal

McCormick & Co. customers asked a New York federal court for final approval of a $3 million settlement that resolves a five-year-old suit alleging it deceptively labeled certain seasoning products as “natural” despite the inclusion of synthetic ingredients.

The deal, which also includes label changes, represents an excellent result for the class, plaintiff Megan Holve said in a Tuesday filing in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York.

The settlement covers consumers who bought “Perfect Pinch Fiesta Citrus Seasoning” and other products after Jan. 1, 2013, that were labeled and advertised as “natural.”
