The producer of MasterChef says a Texas-based kitchenware retailer is infringing its trademarks “willfully and in bad faith,” according to a new lawsuit.
Shine TV Limited said in its complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas that MasterChef LLC and its owner Husein Varvani has been counterfeiting its trademarks through its online store. Shine says the defendants have violated the Lanham Act by both infringing and counterfeiting its marks, as well as by engaging in unfair competition. The complaint says a federal anti-cyberscquatting law has also been violated.
