Mastercard’s $26 Million Underpayment Settlement Gets Final Nod

Former Mastercard Inc. workers secured a $26 million settlement with the company to end their class action alleging female, Black, and Hispanic employees were underpaid.

Judge Jessica G. L. Clarke, of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, granted final approval of the deal in an Aug. 1 order. The amount will go toward two classes of Mastercard employees—one composed of women and another composed Black or Hispanic workers— who haven’t signed an agreement that includes a release of gender or race claims, and were employed during certain timeframes based on location.
