Blue Cross of Massachusetts Sued Over ‘Repricing’ Claims (1)

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts allegedly charged the Massachusetts Laborers’ Health and Welfare Benefit Fund and its members millions of dollars more than they agreed to pay for health-care services and administrative fees, the fund claims.

The fund, which provides health care benefits to union members, entered into a contract with the insurer in 2006 to capitalize on the hospital and provider discounts the insurer advertises. The insurer was responsible for calculating the amount the fund’s self-funded health plan should pay for services.
