Maryland Set to Become First East Coast State with Heat Standard

Maryland will join the growing list of states adopting a heat stress standard to protect workers from heat illness Monday.

The state announced that its heat standard will go into effect September 30 and will cover both indoor as well as outdoor work spaces. The state’s adoption of an official heat standard comes as the federal government announced the public comment period for a nationwide one in late August.
