Marriott Looks to Disqualify Plaintiffs’ Firms in Privacy Fight

Marriott International Inc. asked a federal court to disqualify two law firms representing plaintiffs in a mass arbitration against the hotel chain, alleging the firms engaged in the same privacy-invading conduct in soliciting clients as their clients alleged against Marriott.

The firms—Hilliard, Martinez & Gonzales LLP and Sperling Kenny Nachwalter LLC—filed nearly 7,000 arbitration demands against Marriott with the American Arbitration Association, claiming that Marriott disclosed consumers’ personal data to third parties through online tracking tools incorporated on its website, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Maryland.
