Marin County Ex-Prosecutor’s Civil Rights Suit Gets Scaled Back

A California county is largely free of a Black former deputy district attorney’s civil rights violation allegations, but must still face some equal protection and free speech retaliation claims.

The ex-prosecutor, who alleges race- and gender-based discrimination, voluntarily dropped a dozen of his 19 claims against Marin County and other defendants, and the US District Court for the Northern District of California threw out four more.

One of the dismissed claims is duplicative, and the others currently lack sufficient factual support, the Thursday order said.
