Manufacturer Loses FMLA Trial Redo Bid After Verdict for Worker

A precision bearings manufacturer hit with a jury verdict for a former employee in an FMLA case failed to convince a federal judge that it deserves a new trial.

The jury’s decision to side with Roller Bearing Company of America Inc.‘s ex-salesman didn’t go against the weight of the evidence, the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said. The worker’s lawyer made some inappropriate opening and closing remarks, but they weren’t sufficiently prejudicial to warrant a new trial, the Monday order said.
