Managed Care of North America Hit With Lawsuit Over Data Breach

Managed Care of North American Inc. breached its duty to protect the personal information of almost 9 million people that was exposed in a March data breach, a new proposed federal class action said.

Donna Crowe alleged that MCNA, a dental insurance provider, knew or should have known that its patients’ personal information was a tempting target for cybercriminals, but failed to implement data security standards that were required under federal and state laws and industry standards.

Information exposed in the breach included names, birthdates, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or government-issued ID numbers, health-insurance ...
