Man Convicted of Embezzling from School Loses Sentence Challenge

A contractor convicted of embezzling funds from the School District of Philadelphia lost a bid to overturn his his sentence, after a federal court in the state rejected his claims of ineffective counsel.

David T. Shulick’s motion argued that his lawyer’s failure to properly seek admission of expert testimony resulted in an unfair trial. But the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania denied his request to either vacate or modify his sentence, Monday, after it said he failed to show that the proposed testimony would have made any difference.
