Male Surgeon Awarded $15 Million in Biased Title IX Probe Suit

Thomas Jefferson University owes $15 million to an orthopedic surgeon on his claim that its investigation of his sexual encounter with a female medical resident was biased based on gender in violation of Title IX.

The US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania entered judgment on two jury verdicts in favor of John Abraham and against the Philadelphia-based university and Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals Inc. on Monday, following a five-day trial before Judge Michael M. Baylson.
