Meta Platforms Inc. was sued by internet scholar Ethan Zuckerman who is asking a San Francisco federal court to rule that a browser extension he helped develop that would turnoff a Facebook user’s newsfeed is legal.
Zuckerman, a communications professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, hasn’t yet released the tool “Unfollow Everything 2.0" that would allow Facebook users to automatically unfollow friends, groups, and pages of out fear that Meta will bring legal action against him, according to Zuckerman’s Wednesday complaint.
