Online sportsbooks—including FanDuel, DraftKings, and Caesars Sportsbook—won’t be held liable for gambling losses that thousands of individuals have allegedly suffered from betting on sports in Washington DC, a federal court ruled.
DC Gambling Recovery LLC lacks a cause of action under Washington’s version of the Statute of Anne—a 1700s law that allows people to sue to recover their gambling losses, the US District Court for District of Columbia said in a Thursday opinion dismissing the case with prejudice.
