Major League Soccer LLC and the New York Red Bulls soccer team filed a $6 million suit Wednesday against the agent of Alejandro “Kaku” Gamarra for allegedly reneging on an extension clause in the contract.
MLS and the Red Bulls allege they exercised an option to extend Kaku’s contract through 2021, but that his agent, Scott Pearson, offered the player’s services to clubs outside the MLS for a contract beginning in 2021. As a result, he signed with Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun FC, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
