Maintech Gets Several Class Action Data Breach Claims Thrown Out

Maintech Inc. won dismissal without prejudice of several claims in a proposed class action alleging misconduct in a January 2023 data breach from a cyberattack that disclosed consumers’ Social Security numbers and financial information.

Plaintiff Mark Robinson’s breach of contract claim is dismissed because he didn’t allege what the parties were required to provide each other, and which party Robinson gave his personally identifiable information to for safekeeping, Judge Jamel K. Semper, of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey, said April 12 in a nonprecedential opinion.
