A federal judge on Friday granted Maine an emergency temporary restraining order requiring the US Department of Agriculture to release frozen federal funds, finding a disconnect between the state’s alleged failure to comply with Title IX and withdrawn access to funds for children’s food assistance.
The USDA must immediately release the funding to Maine and is barred from otherwise interfering with the state’s federal funding for alleged Title IX violations during the pendency of the order, according to the order issued in the US District Court for the District of Maine.
