Maine Judges Decline to Recuse Themselves in Trans Athlete Case

Two federal judges in Maine won’t step aside in a high-profile case challenging the state’s policy on transgender athletes after the US contended they may have a potential conflict involving a court employee.

Judge Stacey D. Neumann and Magistrate Judge Karen Frink Wolf denied the federal government’s motion for recusal in a case alleging that Maine’s Department of Education is violating Title IX by allowing transgender athletes to compete in girls’ sports.
