Magnite Stuck With ‘Surreptitious’ Web Data Collection Lawsuit

Magnite Inc. must face most claims of a proposed class action alleging it tracked consumers’ online behavior, then de-anonymized and sold their personal information without consent in violation of federal and state privacy laws.

The plaintiffs adequately pleaded claims of common-law invasion of privacy, invasion of privacy under the California Constitution, unjust enrichment, and violations of the the California Invasion of Privacy Act’s pen-register provisions, Judge Michelle Williams ruled Thursday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
