Lyft Sex Assault Negligence Suit Filed Too Late, US Court Says

Lyft Inc. escaped a woman’s lawsuit claiming the ride hailing service fails to protect riders from sexual assaults as it was filed too late.

Illinois resident Kyarra Hudson, filed her suit following a 2021 incident in which she said she’d fallen asleep in a Lyft vehicle, and awoke to find the driver on top of her. She says the driver then groped and assaulted her. Hudson reported the incident to Lyft, which is based in California, and was informed that the driver had been removed from the platform.
