Lyft Likely Facing Class Claims in Wheelchair Accessibility Suit

Lyft, Inc. looks unlikely to defeat a bid for class status over claims that it discriminates against people with disabilities by failing to consistently or reliably provide wheelchair accessible vehicles to would-be riders, based on a magistrate judge’s recommended ruling.

US Magistrate Judge Andrew E. Krause recommended class certification in a report to Judge Philip M. Halpern of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, Thursday. Krause suggested limiting the claims in the lawsuit, after agreeing with some of Lyft’s challenges to the plaintiffs’ standing.
