Chicago-based Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital must face some claims of a proposed class action arising from a 2024 data breach that exposed the information of nearly 800,000 patients.
The plaintiffs alleged concrete injuries sufficient to establish their standing to sue in federal court, and adequately pleaded claims of negligence, breach of implied contract, and violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, Judge Andrea R. Wood of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said Sept. 26.
