Louisiana to Defend Upcoming Offshore Oil and Gas Lease Sale

Louisiana can intervene in a lawsuit brought by environmental groups to defend the Biden administration’s decision to hold an offshore oil and gas lease sale, a Washington, D.C., federal court ruled.

The lease sale will offer 80 million acres of public waters to the oil and gas industry, making it the largest offshore lease sale in U.S. history, according to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
