L’Oréal Consumers’ Collagen Product False-Ad Lawsuit Advances

L’Oréal USA Inc. consumers could be misled into thinking the word “collagen” on two anti-aging products means they provide the cosmetic benefits of natural collagen, a federal court said Tuesday in denying the company’s motion to dismiss a proposed class action.

Rocio Lopez and Rachel Lumbra allege L’Oréal deceptively touted its L’Oréal Collagen Moisture Filler Day/Night Cream and L’Oréal Fragrance-Free Collagen Moisture Filler Daily Moisturizer products. The topical collagen in the product can’t penetrate the skin surface, they said.
