Long Island Teacher Fired Over Nude Selfie Settles Bias Lawsuit

A Long Island school board and a middle school teacher ended her sex discrimination lawsuit alleging she was unlawfully fired after sending a nude selfie to a colleague.

The US District Court for the Eastern District of New York on Monday dismissed Lauren Miranda’s Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act, and equal protection claims against South Country Central School District and individually named defendants. It was reported that the case settled, and it “is dismissed, subject to reinstatement at the request of any party within 30 days,” the court said.
