Customized Distribution Services Inc., a logistics and warehousing-services provider, has agreed to pay $352,800 to settle a proposed class action alleging it collected the biometric information of employees in violation of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, under a proposed deal filed in federal court.
Each member of the 392-person class would receive an award of around $550 following deductions for fees and administrative costs, according to a motion for preliminary settlement approval filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. The settlement is subject to the approval of Magistrate Judge Reona J. Daly.
