Lockheed Martin Defeats Black Female Manager’s Job Bias Appeal

A Black woman lost her bid to revive a lawsuit alleging Lockheed Martin Corp. demoted and forced her to quit because of her race and sex.

The ruling Wednesday by the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit shows that workers must connect their race, sex, or other covered trait to an alleged protected activity to raise a Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act’s retaliation claim.

Former contract negotiations manager Keishonna Harper viewed that “standard in terms too general” and failed to meet it, Judge E. Grady Jolly said.
