LinkedIn Survives Suit Over Info Collection From California DMV

LinkedIn Corp. for the second time defeated allegations that it illegally intercepted the personal information of its users who visited the website of the California Department of Motor Vehicles.

Plaintiff Jacqueline Jackson failed to allege that the information LinkedIn obtained from her interactions with the state website constituted information from a motor-vehicle record as required to state a violation of the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, Judge P. Casey Pitts of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Jan. 3.
