OG Slick has reached a settlement with Hat World Inc. over claims the operator of sport hat retailer Lids infringed his copyright for his “LA Hands” design by offering his artwork on customized hats without his consent.
Lids allows online customers to add artwork to custom order hats and, according to the complaint, the “LA Hands” design was available to customers without OG Slick’s permission. Slick, otherwise known as Richard Wyrgatsch, II, sued Hat World in May asserting claims for copyright and trademark infringement as well as unfair competition claims under federal and California law.
