Liberty University Seeks Fast Appeal in Transgender Bias Lawsuit

Liberty University asked the Fourth Circuit to immediately review a lower court ruling that the university’s status as a “religious employer” under federal job bias law doesn’t exempt it from a transgender worker’s discrimination claims.

The case raises several issues of first impression for the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit or the US Supreme Court, the school said Monday in asking the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia to certify its Feb. 21 ruling for interlocutory appeal.
