LG Changes Data Collection Consent to End Texas TV Spy Suit (1)

LG Electronics USA will get Texas consumers’ consent before collecting their viewing data to end an anti-privacy lawsuit from the state, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) announced Monday.

The TV maker must obtain consent at the time of or immediately after the disclosure is made, as required in an agreed judgment the parties submitted in state court.

In a press release, Paxton said he’s pleased that LG will change its notices and “I will continue to work to aggressively hold other smart TV companies accountable for unlawfully using ACR technology to put consumers at risk.”
