Lenovo Sued by Consumer for Violating US Bulk Data Transfer Rule

Lenovo (United States) Inc.'s use of third-party tracking tools on its website directly violated a Department of Justice regulation that restricts transmitting bulk consumer data to China, a proposed class action alleged.

“Sending American consumers’ information to Chinese entities through automated advertising systems and associated databases with the requisite controls is prohibited,” the complaint, filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, alleged.
