Legal groups sued the Trump administration over its order to end funding for counsel for unaccompanied immigrant children, alleging that thousands of “incredibly vulnerable” kids will be forced to navigate federal courts without the aid of a lawyer.
The March 21 order from the Department of the Interior to “immediately stop work” on the groups’ ongoing funded representations will have “devastating and irreparable effects” that will spark “chaos throughout the immigration legal system,” said Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto and 10 other immigration legal providers in their lawsuit.
