Legacy Health Beats Workers’ Suit Over Covid-19 Shot Exemptions

A Pacific Northwest non-profit healthcare system presented sufficient evidence that the Covid-19 vaccine exemptions some employees had asked for would’ve been an undue hardship, a federal court ruled.

All of the workers held positions requiring close, consistent, and frequent in-person contact with patients and staff, and had religious objections to the Covid-19 vaccine. Legacy Health showed that “allowing certain staff members with increased risk of carrying and spreading COVID-19 to continue close interaction with patients and staff would have ‘substantial’ ‘ramifications’” on its business, the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said Thursday.
