Lee University agreed to pay $1.75 million to settle a proposed class action alleging the school negligently failed to protect the personal information of nearly 137,000 people that was exposed in a 2024 data breach.
Class members would be eligible to receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for documented losses from the breach, a pro rata cash payment of around $100, and one year of credit-monitoring services, according to the plaintiffs’ motion for preliminary settlement approval. Judge Curtis L. Coller of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee granted the motion Monday.
