Lawyer Gets One-Year Suspension in Kansas for Sex with Client

An attorney based in Missouri was suspended from practicing law in Kansas after the state’s high court found that he had an inappropriate sexual relationship with one of his clients.

Michael Spiegel of Blue Springs, Mo., was suspended indefinitely by the Supreme Court of Missouri in March 2020 following the discovery of a sexual relationship with an existing client. The Kansas top court followed suit March 4, responding to a complaint filed after Spiegel notified the Disciplinary Administrator’s office of his suspension in Missouri.
